750 KW GROUND SOURCE HEAT PUMP INSTALLATION WITH A CASCADE OF 5 CLAUSIUS HEAT PUMPS

This ground source heat pump installation provides heating, air conditioning and DHW to a 200-dwelling building in Madrid. The required power of 750 kW is produced with 5 CLAUSIUS HC 12-150 DS heat pumps in cascade. The CLAUSIUS HC 12-150 DS heat pumps incorporate a desuperheater, which allows the simultaneous production of heating and DHW in winter and cooling and DHW in summer, which is a great advantage in this type of high-power installations. The ground source collector consists of 80 boreholes each 135 meters deep.

Installation of Clausius Strong Double HC 7-100 ground source heat pump in a car dealership in Ourense (Spain). With 6 boreholes each 150 meters deep, it will have all its heating and cooling demands met with a 1,000-liter buffer tank.

The challenge on this case has been to adapt the installation to source temperatures of 30-35 ºC, since we are in a thermal area. The solution consisted of using a thermostatic mixing valve at the inlet of the heat pump.

Installation of Clausius Strong Double HC 7-100 DS ground source heat pump in a newly built geriatric residence in Meirás (Sada). With 11 boreholes each 150 meters deep, it will have all its heating and hot water demands met with a 1,000-liter buffer tank and a 1,500-liter DHW tank, for a surface area of 1,519 m² to be air-conditioned and an average occupancy of 50 users.

This model has a desuperheater that allows:

Simultaneous production of heating and DHW at high temperature.
Simultaneous production of cooling and DHW at high temperature.
The production of only DHW using the condenser and the desuperheater simultaneously, which increases the efficiency of the heat pump in these processes.

A combination of geothermal energy and solar power have provided sustainable cooling and air-conditioning to the Moncloa Transport Hub in Madrid, Spain. The Geobatt project was launched by Sacyr, Energy Storage Solutions, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Universidad Carlos III, and the IMDEA Energy Foundation to demonstrate the exploitation of geothermal energy with flow batteries for the air conditioning of zero-energy tertiary buildings.

The container has been manufactured by Clausius throughout the execution of the project, consisting of 3 buffer tanks and the Clausius Strong Double H 100 DS unit that manages the installation.

According to “The Energy Newspaper”, the global market for ground source heat pumps (GSHP) amounted to 415,000 units in 2022 and will grow at a rate of 6% annually until 2030.

Global technology intelligence company ABI Research reveals that GSHP has a promising future, with more and more companies investing in this technology, which will grow the GSHP market to approximately $18.5 billion by 2030, according to application analysis report Smart Heating Technologies for Industries by ABI Research.

ELITE H 5-25 kw in North Devon (England).

Installation with an open loop system with water from the river next to the property. The open loop system will pump the water from the river to the heat pump where the heat will be extracted. They have used a Danfoss heat exchanger on this installation (supplied by Clausius) which not only exchanges the heat from the river to the heat pump but is also able to filter out and remove particles up to 6 ml big out of the river water making it an easy clean hassle free system.

This House will now have all its heating and hot water demands met by a Clausius Elite 25 kW Heat pump on a single phase connection.

Our Clausius Elite model has a built in cylinder that heats DHW up to 85ºC, but they have also connected a second cylinder to ensure all hot water demands are met for this larger property.

Geo4radon: Ourense leads a project with an efficient geothermal system.

GEO4RADON is a research project to improve the efficiency of Geothermal Systems from different viewpoints. The project also includes the analysis of the boreholes influence on Radon gas diffusion from the ground to the surface.

The University of Vigo and the company Extraco lead the GEO4RADON from Ourense (Galicia).
